The European Sustainable Development Weeks are coming to an end today. The theme of this 2021 edition was “Acting every day”. Because all actions count, including our daily gestures, to deeply transform our societies, it is time to assess our Cyber Cleanup Week challenge.
The European Sustainable Development Weeks aim to raise awareness of the Agenda 2030 sustainable development goals. It also encourages concrete mobilization at all individual and collective levels by promoting initiatives in favor of sustainable development. This year, at Econocom, the CSR/Communication and IT departments of the group launched the Cyber Cleanup Week challenge. A great opportunity to reduce the environmental impact of the group’s mailboxes with the objective of reducing our digital environmental footprint (mailboxes) by 5%, i.e. deleting 10 million emails in one week (equivalent to 110 tons of CO2)!
In two weeks, no less than 5 million emails were deleted! That’s the equivalent of 55 tons of CO2 or 55 trips from Paris to NYC and back! Congratulations and THANK YOU!
The objective was ambitious and we would like to thank each of you for your participation and involvement in this action.
As a responsible digital entrepreneur, Econocom wants to go further! In order to reach the final objective of offsetting the emission of 110 tons of CO2, Econocom is committed alongside our partner Climate Partner. How can we do this? Through a reforestation project! No less than 55 trees will be planted in Germany and 3,000 trees in Brazil in order to allow Econocom to compensate the additional 55 tons of CO2.
Of course, your actions should not stop with the end of the challenge. We count on you to continue to act in all your daily gestures.
