Econocom commits to sustainability at the X Industrial Forum — Megatrends

Econocom Spain attended the X Industrial Forum — Megatrends hosted by El Economista financial newspaper in Madrid on 16 October. The event brought together leaders of various sectors to discuss three key themes: strategic autonomy, artificial intelligence and sustainability. Its patron was His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain, who gave the opening address. Carlos Pérez-Herce, Econocom’s Country Manager in Spain, also had the opportunity to meet His Majesty as the event closed: a unique moment captured on camera by Econocom Stories.

Econocom Spain’s Country Manager took part in the sustainability roundtable alongside some kingpins of the Iberian economy (Holcim Spain, Renfe and Engie Spain). Carlos reiterated our group’s commitment to cutting its carbon footprint by 7% by 2032 and 8.5% by 2050. « We know that sustainability is a major focus for businesses, environmentally, socially and economically, » he said. « We’re committed to doing our bit to facilitate the transition to a more sustainable economy. »

Sustainability initiatives aimed at colleagues and clients praised by members of the roundtable.

In his speech, Carlos Pérez-Herce also stressed the importance of involving staff in sustainability initiatives. « They’re the first to be affected by environmental and social challenges, » he explained. « So it’s important to get them involved from the outset to ensure that our projects succeed. » Econocom is committed to sustainability: the group has introduced a series of measures to reduce its environmental impact substantially, including cutting energy and water usage, using recycled and recyclable materials as well as promoting sustainable mobility.

Econocom also pledged to support its clients’ efforts to boost sustainability. The group provides a range of solutions and services that enable businesses to lower their environmental impact: refurbishing devices, leasing computer equipment and optimizing IT infrastructures.

Econocom’s commitment to sustainability was hailed by participants at the X Industrial Forum — Megatrends. « Econocom is an example to follow, » said Gregorio Peña, President of Ecoprensa. « The group shows that sustainability is a major consideration for businesses and that it’s possible to combine economic performance and social responsibility. »
